Tangerine Tango takes a bow as color of the year.

Consumers looking for an energy boost in the coming year are likely to gravitate to products wearing Pantone 17-1463—Tangerine Tango—announced as the color of the year for 2012. The bright reddish-orange replaces Pantone 18-2120 Honeysuckle, the color chosen for 2011. Pantone’s annual selection influences product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.

As far as cosmetics, Pantone said the color is a winner because of its versatility; it’s also an unexpected eye shadow color that flatters blue or green eyes. In fact, Pantone has partnered with Sephora to create the first Color of the Year beauty collection, scheduled for launch in Spring 2012.
